2016 ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE / OPENING

One week ago i had the opportunity to attend (finally!) the press opening of the 2016 Architecture Biennale.
I had a walk through the Arsenale exhibition and some pavilions around the area: it was a great sunny weekend with a soft summer breeze, the perfect weather to stroll along the city’s narrow calli.
I didn’t have enough time to see all the Giardini exhibition, (need to cover it super soon!) but i pointed many great and external installations, some of them taking place perfectly in the venetian setting, peeking through hanging laundry in Castello or set into a small charming apartment.

One thing i was more focusing on this year was the big amount of small printed publications that always accompany the exhibitions, booklets, posters, cards and flyers: i brought home a few of them, you will see some of my favorites below mixed with some exhibition’s shots, enjoy!

PASTEL CITY.

It's been a while since i posted some photography inspiration here on the blog, and that's why today i'd like to introduce to you this stunning serie by Hungarian photographer Bence Bakonyi:
"The Urbanite series is an account of how the artist found his home in the unknown. And because home is where one can find himself, the photographs can also be seen as the artist's self-portraits projected onto Hong Kong and Shanghai."
His pictures have some kind of surreal feel to them, as they are suspended in time: it looks ad they're not set during daytime but not even during the night, and that's what hit me the most when i saw them for the first time, together with a fine eye for composition and great color combinations.

NYC LANDSCAPES.

I'm definitely in LOVE with this guy's work. Franck Bohbot is a photographer born in Paris and now based in New York City: with his work-in-progress serie this land is your land he documents unusual landscapes of the city, with a peculiar point of view, precise compositions and (that's what caught my eye) unique color schemes.

P.S. you should have a look at some of his other - always stunning - series, my favorites are last stop coney island and swimming pool (sublime images illustrating the architecture of these majestic, empty public spaces).

/HOME SWEET HOME

Light, light, light: this is the main element of this amazing apartment by german Studio Oink.
For Ausbau Apartment, located in a popular area in Wiesbaden, "quiet and bright, these were some wishes of the flat owners. We create up a lightful atmosphere with a touch of nature by using natural materials and old furniture". A lot of attention was put on the original wood floring, combined with white walls and ceramic tiles for the kitchen. Most of the storage furniture was tailor-made for each room and it's perfectly working together with great vintage pieces.
