2016 ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE / OPENING

One week ago i had the opportunity to attend (finally!) the press opening of the 2016 Architecture Biennale.
I had a walk through the Arsenale exhibition and some pavilions around the area: it was a great sunny weekend with a soft summer breeze, the perfect weather to stroll along the city’s narrow calli.
I didn’t have enough time to see all the Giardini exhibition, (need to cover it super soon!) but i pointed many great and external installations, some of them taking place perfectly in the venetian setting, peeking through hanging laundry in Castello or set into a small charming apartment.

One thing i was more focusing on this year was the big amount of small printed publications that always accompany the exhibitions, booklets, posters, cards and flyers: i brought home a few of them, you will see some of my favorites below mixed with some exhibition’s shots, enjoy!

2016 CALENDAR.

Happy new year! Let's start 2016 with a pretty gift, a printable calendar with some of the pictures i like the most from last year.
Doors of venice became some kind of an obsession of mine, since i spot so many of them while walking around the city. That's why i decided to make a series called atlas of venicedoors: you can find all of them (and more to come, it's a work in progress!) on instagram with the hashtag #atlasofvenicedoors, or right here.
I hope you like it and that this small calendar will be beside you during next year!

You can download it clicking this link.
P.s. it's an A4 file that you can print it with your home printer. can i suggest thick white paper? I've done mine like this!

Cheers to a brand new year full of inspiration!

WELCOME BACK.

For some strange reasons when i woke up this morning i recalled that today is the blog's anniversary: it has been three years since that day in december when i decided to start sharing my thoughts online. I know 2015 hasn't been the most productive year of my blogging activities but lots of stuff passed by and the inspiration kinda faded away.
Anyway i really care about this little blog and even though it's super hard to get back on the web after such a long pause i thought: "why not doing it now?"
That's why i took the chance of a special day to write this post and tell you that i'm going to try and commit a bit more to this platform: i'm thinking about some design shake-up, i'm super excited to share a project i've been working on during this year and (maybe because of the festive mood that's starting to surround us) i got lots of ideas for future posts!

Welcome back!

BERLIN TILES.

I found out about this photographic series a few days ago on the Present&Correct blog and these colorful images immediately caught my eyes (due to tiles and type combined together, of course!).
Photographer Kate Seabrook decided to document Berlin's entire U-Bahn system, end to end, one line at a time:

"The idea for the project was born out of an appreciation of the impressive and varied styles of U-Bahn architecture and typography and the reliability of the system to get Berliners where they need to go. What makes Endbahnhof special is that each line is shot in a single journey, disembarking at each station to photograph it before the next train arrives."

P.s.  you should have a look at Kate's other project too, housekeeping is pretty cool!

SILENT LANDSCAPES.

Time for some photography inspiration! Today meet Akos Major, an hungarian photographer whose peaceful shots caught my eyes some time ago. I really enjoy the simple, minimalistic composition together with a pale light and pastel colors, creating a sense of silence and solitude both in lonely sceneries and chaotic cityscapes.
